ZIDOO X6 Pro Review
The new device from Zidoo promises lots of interesting features and a lag free video experience packed in a slick TV Box that promotes a common rectangular design. Zidoo is the type of producer who doesn’t abandon their products immediately after release so you shouldn’t worry about getting support for a long time from now.
The ZIDOO X6 Pro packs a modern OS (Android 5.1 Lollipop) and offers a clean interface that allows any user to orientate while browsing the TV Box’s built-in features. The compact design makes it easy to hide behind furniture, but you must keep it in open space in order to establish the line of sight for the remote to work.
The list price for this device is $185 but you can get it on sale for about $100. It may be a bit more expensive that the Minix Neo X8-H Plus, but it is equipped with a more recent OS, fact that allows for an enhanced user experience. It also comes equipped with a better hardware configuration.
The package is pretty standard when it comes to TV Boxes, and it comes with the device itself, a power adapter, one HDMI cable, the IR remote control, and the user manual.
The box itself is compact and well designed and all the components inside are packed individually for a better unpacking experience.
If it were to compare the Zidoo X6 Pro with its direct competitors, the Minix Neo X8-H Plus and the Tronsmart MXIII Plus, you would notice a distinct difference in design. The box implements the same rectangular shape but it ditches the traditional black for the silver finishing with black edges, fact that makes it look more stylish and elegant. The top of the box is covered with a thin metal sheet for enhanced durability and a smoother look, and the sides and bottom are made of plastic.
Also, the remote control is pretty standard for a TV Box. It is made out of plastic, but it offers a good feel and grip. The new and improved feature with this remote is an app switch button. Otherwise, there are the classic Android buttons, the volume and movement controls, number keys and 3 buttons that can be mapped for other activities like launching apps from the press of a key.
The Zidoo X6 Pro is powered by an Octacore Cortex A53 processor, running at 1.5 GHz, with a Rockchip RK3368 chipset. The GPU is a PowerVR G6110 so the box will be able to offer an amazing video experience while running high-quality videos (the box supports 4k at 60fps but it doesn’t run it as smooth as it should).
The box has most of its ports on the back and it supports 1 HDMI port, 2 USB 2.0, 1 Composite AV port, a TF card slot and 1 IR receiver for the connection with the remote. Users can choose out of 3 options of connectivity: Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n/, and Ethernet.
The Zidoo X6 runs on Android 5.1.1, the latest stable version of the OS and promotes the ZIUI, a clean interface that is easy to use by anyone. Also, the system is completely integrated with a fully functional XBMC app and the Zidoo Media Center. Zidoo also offers the possibility to control the device with your phone and the connection is almost instant using the provided QR code (this way you get rid of the need to point at the device for every change).
The device also supports DLNA and other systems that allow the user to synchronize the device with another mobile device like a phone or a tablet. This way, you get to play your favorite games and apps on a bigger screen.
Complete access to Google Play store and over the air updates ensure users that their apps and software will function properly and that they will always be up to date.
