Thunderbird 68 Review – www.thunderbird.net
What you need: Windows 7, 8.1 or 10
This latest release of the popular email client comes with a host of improvements, most notably a redesigned menu system. The App menu, for example, no longer opens new windows as you navigate through it, but instead uses sliding windows that make it feel more like a smartphone app. The Options screen is also improved and now opens as a tab within the main program (see screenshot above).
What’s more, this is the first 64bit version of Thunderbird, which has resulted in a noticeable performance boost.
While the previous 32bit release took four seconds to load on our computer, this version loaded in just one second.
If you currently use an older version and rely on a specific extension, we recommend visiting www.snipca.com/32776 to check that the latest version supports it before upgrading.
