ViewSonic VX2457 MHD Review
FreeSync On The Cheap – ViewSonic introduces one of the more affordable FreeSync monitors in the market so far
FreeSync and GSYNC-certified monitors offer some of the best performance money can buy, the only problem is that for the most part, these monitors can sometimes cost as much as a whole PC, and when most of your money has been spent on components, it’s just difficult to justify spending even more on the rest of the items that you need. That’s where ViewSonic comes in with the VX2457 MHD monitor.

As its name implies, the VX2457 MHD is a 24-inch monitor, with a Full HD resolution.
Setting up the monitor is a fairly simple affair, but we do have to mention that the neck of the display is fairly thin, and does cause the monitor to wobble from time to time. The adjustments are also a bit limited, as you can only adjust the display to tilted up and down, but not left to right.
As far as the video-in ports are concerned, the VX2457 MHD sports a VGA port, a HDMI port and a DisplayPort. The monitor also has built-in speakers, and an audio-out port if you ever need to output sound to external speakers.
As far as brightness and color accuracy goes, the VX2457 MHD is excellent. Out of the box, the colors for the default settings are a bit too cool for our liking, but with a bit of tweaking on the RGB scale, we got the display to be at just the right color that we like. That said, the monitor also comes with a variety of preset settings such as Game Mode, which comes with a number of predetermined color schemes for a variety of game types, such as RTS, MOBA and FPS.
Much like many displays today, the VX2457 MHD also comes with features such as Flicker-Free technology and Blue Light Filter which does help a lot with allowing you (or us, in this case) with extended viewing periods. Gaming and watching videos on the computer for long periods of time no longer causes eye strain and headaches, which is are very big pluses too.
We should also mention that the monitor also supports AMD’s FreeSync display technology, whereby the graphics card will match its framerate output to that of the monitor’s refresh rate, reducing the odds of stutter and screen tearing due to the graphics output and refresh rate not sync’d properly. If you happen to be running an AMD GPU in your PC, this is definitely a monitor that will pair perfectly well with your PC.

Verdict
The ViewSonic VX2457 MHD monitor is a great display in terms of its color reproduction and functionalities. While the display wobble is a bit of a concern, it’s a worthwhile investment if you’re in the market for an inexpensive gaming display.
