Something about digging two graves

The Cougar Revenger gaming mouse uses an unmodified version of the powerful and accurate Pixart 3360 optical sensor, and even without tweaks it’s a cracker. The sensor is accurate and fast and a joy to use when not pumped up to maximum sensitivity. Thanks to the built-in memory, players can have up to three configuration profiles with programmed buttons and DPI settings saved to the mouse at all times. The design of the Revenger, much like the name, is quite aggressive, with a split between the left and right buttons, and those buttons tapering into points.

The Revenger features six programmable buttons; left, right, two thumb buttons, wheel click and the DPI switch. It’s the last of these that is really interesting. The DPI switch is designed as a trigger rather than the more typical button and it proves to be a great choice.

One common complaint we have with a lot of gaming mice is that it’s too easy to accidentally change DPI settings when scrolling the mouse wheel. The trigger is all but impossible to pull accidentally.

As with nearly everything labelled as a gaming peripheral, the Revenger features programmable RGB lighting, but like the Kone EMP, the utilisation of RGBs is quite understated and elegant, with two zones of lighting – a back section featuring the logo and a base strip, and the DPI setting indicator to the side. The Revenger is a nice, straightforward mouse positioned at a good price point. It’s comfortable in the hand and accurate.

DANIEL WILKS

Possibly the best mouse we’ve seen from Cougar so far. It’s comfortable, accurate and (probably) well-priced.
